It's Super Smash Bros Ultimate is the one I'm talking about.
Dead by Daylight has only one gamemode, no separate casual or competitive mode. The amount of times that people disconnected in the game before a disconnect ban was implemented was very frustrating. It felt like almost every game, at least one person would disconnect and just ruin the game for everyone else.
Now that there is a disconnect ban, disconnects happen less frequently. I guess I noticed more players giving up/throwing the game by killing themselves, but I'll take that over the frequent disconnects. Yes, power outages happen to everyone, but it should be a once in a while thing. If you get it so often, then I'm sorry but that's your problem. Unless there is a better alternative of system where punishments aren't needed (which seems very unlikely), you're not going to ruin the fun for everyone else through your ragequits or power outages.
The reward for staying is the possibility of winning which must be earned.
Sounds to me like the developers still have more work to do if softlock can be cited.
I quite like the idea of AI filling the void provided its competent to realistically succeed or fail fairly. Its a good approach to the problem without the need to act harshly assuming the one that endeavours isnt minused in someway.
The AI is set to approximately the skill level the opponent was at. So if it end up at 6 through 9 it can still be a challenging match.
I'll try to let it go from now on.
