Thank you for sharing that special moment!
I'm TERRIFIED of that day myself, even though I'm an "adult" and don't get along with her much. I just know that I love her and will miss her terribly. Especially her cooking.
I'm scared to ask why so long ago? If you feel comfortable sharing the reason, please do.
Well last time I said 'I love you' my mother was way back in the 1980's when I was a kid. I do love her but I find it near impossible too say them 'simple words' to my mum. Maybe its the kind of person I am.
I hope I never see that day when my mother passes on. But to be realistic, I see that coming ever closer and I dread it.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Speaking as a mom, I know my kids love me, whether they say it or not, because I can feel their hearts. It's like a secret super power a mother gains when she gives birth to her child.
So, it's not hearing the "I love you" from a child that a mother wants (because she knows it). The joy that comes from hearing a child say "I love you" lies in the mother feeling comfort in her child understanding the true power of love. If saying "I love you" is heartfelt, it will empower the child...that's what a mom truly wants.

I'm not attempting to make assumptions about why you don't like saying it. I'm wondering if you think saying it would make the feeling less real or meaningful. I'm just trying to better understand your reason.
