Is ringing in my ears normal?

Already a thread called "I can't hear properly", but no one responded to me :/

Every time it's quiet, I hear ringing and electric-like sounds. It's quite calming TBH

But other people describe silent as "their heart beating, etc"

And tinnitus is just constant ringing, as I researched

No, it's bit too loud. It's sound cancelling, but my sound is usually set to 20%

I can even go for a week without headphones and still would hear the ringing

I think i remember hearing that's caused by noise damage to the hairs in your ear that pick up vibrations. When they have no sound to pick up, you just hear the damage.

I have the same problem, if one might call it that. I hear an almost ambient ringing when I'm in silence. The ringing is not overbearing, and it's certainly possible to even not notice it.

The only explanation I've ever come across is tinnitus, but it's strange because I don't experience either the severity or discomfort that those with tinnitus generally claim. I'm hesitant to label the ringing as tinnitus. Besides, I could hear the ambient ringing for as long as I can remember - I've always just assumed it was normal.

I thought it was the type that actually pretty loud and VERY disturbing
