hmm, in depth:

- WW2 gave us 1 hyperpower, and 2 superpower
- WW2 gave us a crap ton of tech advances, the Internet being one of them
- WW2 made asia the way it currently is
- WW2 gave us a crap ton of cool tanks and planes to get butthurt about

If C19 will end with us getting colonies to Mars/Alpha Centauri, free wireless energy and hovercar megacities, then it can be "comparable" an event. Maybe.

One small thing of note, the Internet's groundwork was laid in the 1960s. WW2 had nothing to do with DARPA's ARPNET. The grandfather of the internet.

Also, highfivingbears, that can't be accurate, because that would require way too many people to actually drop dead all of a sudden.
That just can't happen. The sheer timing would be beyond absurd.
Disease outbreaks like this happen exponentially, which means it is very well possible that 2000+ people die in one day because of it. Italy reported almost 800 deaths in one day recently.

Check it for yourself. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

THe problem here, is the death toll can't get too much higher before someone who has access to nuclear weapons gets a bit twitchy.

So, that's why this concerns me.
The higher it climbs, the higher the chance of a nuclear incident.
People and countries tend to get a bit twitchy when enough people die to something like this.
That's an... interesting viewpoint, to say the least.

Year's just started and we have the worst pandemic in 100 years. That said we're also better equipped to deal with most types of crises. Except war. A direct conflict between two major nations would be a thousand times messier than WW2.

Asia the way it currently is sucks though

I may sound like the doom and gloom man, but I know how people work. This is going to cause tensions to flare up between the superpowers.

The longer this goes on for, the worse the tensions are going to get.
To put it bluntly, if it hasn't happened yet for actual threats to national security (remember Kim Jong Un launching those missiles over Guam and Hawaii had an actual legitimate nuclear warning telling people to go to bunkers?) it won't happen for something that is obviously not a direct biological attack on one country from another country.

This thing is a pandemic. It's worldwide. Also, even on the ever-so-impossibly thin chance that it is a bioweapon, it's a sucky one at that. It's not near lethal enough to be a good bioweapon. Anthrax? Now that's what you want in a bioweapon.

You have to be joking. To ever claim Japan is totalitarian!

I don't joke when i say things like this, and I pay attention to history, perhaps too much. Thats why I said that.

Hawaii was a fluke. Everyone knows this. IT was an accident.
I didn't know that Kim Jong Un launched any missiles over Gaum, that seems a little strange. Not very smart either.

The fact of the matter, this came out of China. Even if it's not a bioweapon, enough people die from this, people are going to start lobbing the nukes around.
That's human nature in a nutshell.
We can't argue against it.

You need literally one person. Just one person on the planet to get so upset over this that they target China.
We know Hawaii was a fluke now. It was most definitely not an accident. We know now that it was a test missile launched by Kim Jong Un, but we didn't know it was a test missile until after the fact. Kim Jong Un is not very smart at all.

You can very much argue against it, as I am doing right now. It did come out of China, that is a fact. I am wondering where you're getting the idea that a nuclear war is going to start, though, other than "it's just human nature!" It is absolutely not human nature to end the entire planet in mutually assured destruction. If it was, we wouldn't be talking right now. There would've been nuclear war time and again through times in history where there was actual precedent to launch nuclear weapons. There wouldn't have been a Cold War. There would have been a very, very, very hot war that would also be incredibly short, maybe an hour or two at most.

You do not just need one person. Not at all. I'm not aware of the systems other countries use, but for the US the President alone has the authority to initiate a very intricate process to launch a nuclear first strike. So, Trump decides to initiate this process for whatever deranged reason --which is all he would have. The top military brass are not idiots. They would see that the President is not fit for duty, and would have him removed through the 25th Amendment.

So no, it is not possible at all for this to end in nuclear fury.

EDIT: Let me rephrase the end there. It is not possible for the United States to end everything in nuclear fury due to Covid-19.

Literally no one is saying that. Please stop spreading lies. It's actually against the rules.

I thought making up stuff you know is false is against the rules. Maybe it's not.
Sorry. My mistake.

So you'd ban half of the community, yourself included? For opinion as well?
