If you want mods, get Minecraft Java. If you want the vanilla game, get the Windows 10 version.

im recommend Java edition. you can play mod in any version you want. also, it have more launcher option

No, if you're getting Minecraft get Java edition.

Windows 10 version is terrible and limited in modding and I think you have to buy skins unlike Java version where you can add any custom skin for free.

Also i read somewhere on steam that the windows 10 version makes you pay for a server where the java servers are free. Not sure if that is true just relaying what i read here on steam.

if im right, you will paid for server if want more than 50 players if you being host. for something like 16 players is free
