Fallout 3 has level up and more choices to make, skill points and scavenging which makes the game more replayable; not to mention you can explore the whole world. Once you beaten it, you can find for mods, which adds many fun and is a much more worth choice than Half life 2.
Half-Life 2 never a fan I thought it was ok played it about 2 times. Maybe you should try some of the total conversion mods or extended universe mods (ModDB).
You got Dead Space 1 & 2, Mass Effect, Skyrim untouched. You slap yourself silly for not giving those ago.
