I have had my affections attached to characters. Tali comes to mind. So does a certain flower girl. I haven't fallen in love with any of them, but I am emotionally invested.

Basically you can't. Sorry but this is a little psychic trouble if so.

"Falling in love" involves procreation even if you don't "think" of that ; this is basic instinct, so you need someone real for that, someone who matches with your storing biosignals, so real interactions are mandatory to "fall in love".

Falling in love has nothing to do with some fantasy in your head or rule 34 of the Internet.
