Battle.net desktop app...dangerous?
I have a new PC and was trying to reinstall the Battle.net Desktop App. I had it on my previous PC with no issues.

I have been trying to download it for a couple of days now, but the download kept failing. After some searching, I found that Mozilla has an option to, "Block dangerous and deceptive content."

After turning this off, Battle.net downloaded in one second.

This PC is new, and I have been downloading a lot of installers, including some user made mods for a Steam game; but this is the first one to get blocked.

Why does Mozilla think Battle.net is Dangerous? I'm not Blizzards biggest fan either, but I don't think they are dangerous...deceptive...maybe?:steammocking:

Use Chrome instead, it won't warn you of popular/confirmed good programs being downloaded.

Valve made a large donation to Firefox.... Let that sink in for a bit ;)

It doesn´t do that here, and I have every bell and whistle on. Check your source.

That's fine I suppose.

I was more wondering as to why Mozilla would not feel the user made mods and other installers are bad, but feel that Blizzards installer is. I'd assume that there is something this particular installer is doing different; but what?

This is just out of curiosity by the way. I am not worried about Blizzards installer, just curious if anyone else ever ran into it and figured it out.

Because Mozilla has fallen into the last decade, that's why Valve uses Chromium for it's web browser and Microsoft as well instead of something based off mozilla. You're already using Chrome with Steam, so why not go all the way and full chrome?

I'd love to see proof of this, given that they don't use it in any of their code nor have any reason to.

I've been using Firefox for as long as I can remember and never had such message popping up about my downloads; and this specifically goes or Battle.net, as I use it myself.
https://www.blizzard.com/apps/battle.net/desktop

mozilla firefox 74.0 (64bit)
mozilla firefox 74.0.1 (64bit)
all downloads successful on my mind.

wth is mozilla firefox doing?
