Videogames for mom
My mother isn't handling the whole quarantine thing well so I thought I'd try to get her into some games to get her mind off things.

Looking for suggestions.

She's a non-gamer so anything complex or fast-paced is out of the question. She used to play a lot of Majesty back in the day, so maybe a sim-type game where she can relax and observe could do it, but I'm open to pretty much any suggestions.

She is not really a gamer. That's the only game she play. Haha. 60+ y/o, retired science teacher and dedicated tv drama watcher/housewife. :caster_happy:

I hope this situation will over. I miss my mum, i miss her hug.

I am not lucky with that. I am a bit far. Thank to technology i can still have some live chat and talk with her.

Sims 4 is probably the most stream-lined Sims game in existence. Sims 3 is better and more complete, but a ♥♥♥♥♥ to run if you don't have anything less than a NASA computer. Sims 2 is the quirkiest Sims game and downright entertaining, but dated and difficult to run on modern hardware. Sims 1 is only for if you have nostalgia blinders because every other Sims game is almost better in every way.

I enjoy seeing non-gamers join the dark side.

This is a casual Sim Tower. The learning curve is short (so she could get right down to playing), does not need special mouse expertise. Best of all, you can assure her that she can afk and her little people won't die. Cheap too.

I also suggest Science-based game like this:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/491470/PRINCIPIA_Master_of_Science/
beware technical issues for early access.

Or story-heavy games:

You may also search out groups for Mature Players on Steam, after screening of course. So she will have people to engage with beside you.

You could try some turn based jrpg. I don't like this genre but being turn based it is really easy to learn how to play. If she can bear the obsolete graphics I would highly recommend Final Fantasy 7, because even I liked it a lot despite the fact that I dislike this genre. It is very intriguing and those games are rather long too so she would get a lot of playtime.
I'm not sure about the remake I have heard it will be released split up in many different episodes and I think this could ruin the overall experience. I would trust the original version a lot more in terms of quality of the experience but the graphics is very outdated.
