Can Valorant threaten CS:GO position ?
Please forgive me if this is not the place for this discussion, but it is probably worth discussing it thoroughly. I'd like to know your thoughts here. I also address these questions in a way to the founders

I think it's worth facing and discussing it. Is Valorant your real competition and a threat?
Can you act simultaneously and grow together?

As for the CS:GO game itself, I don't see the point of change.
But every new player will have it, whether you want it or not.

Are you planning a long-term change or will csgo be a classic CSGO forever ? (I'm not saying it's bad - I would personally stay at 1.6 and only remove the bugs)

No. People were exactly saying the same thing about Overwatch killing TF2 when it was released. 4 years later, TF2 is still alive even with over 900 days without a major update. Even with the current bot crisis, people are still playing the game.

CS:GO won't easily die if it ever does. The playerbase has risen ever since the game became F2P, and currently has at least 300,000-500,000 concurrent players on average. It's always been one of the top 10 most played Steam games with the entire Counter-Strike series still succeeding for more than 20 years.

The E-sports scene is huge with tens and hundreds of thousands of dollar prize pools. Majors are hosted twice a year by Valve.

The game gets frequent updates and ways to combat cheating besides VAC, such as trust factor, Overwatch, and prime. I think ESEA and Faceit are third party websites that have a better anti-cheat system too.

Valorant will just be another game in the same genre, like R6S and CS:GO. I don't think CS:GO playerbase will even lose some of their playerbase, considering TF2 playerbase has actually risen even with Overwatch released. And it's mostly not because of the bots, there's only around 4,000 that exist in the TF2 servers.

Like any new released game, many people are going to try it and play it. As time goes by, the popularity and playerbase will go down and likely to stay steady if it does succeed.

It is boring AF to watch, clearly aimed at the Zoomers with the Fortnitesque graphics. It's the same as CS, point a gun at a corner and wait for someone to cross your sights on tiny maps.
I watched a couple of rounds and the guy moved about 10 feet the whole match.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww cartoonyyyyyyyy

The gameplay might be fine, yet people like this despise it anyway, so have they done on Overwatch, Fortnite, Spellbreak, Apex, etc. I don't care the artstyle as long as the gameplay and anti-cheat are solid. Who decided that "shooting games must look super duper realistic" shenanigan?

All in all, I completely agree, but this will be the case with one key assumption - the audience and the number of people playing and watching the games will continue to grow.

But in the end, there will be a peak of this state and the number will reach its maximum. There will be no more spectators physically and everything can fall down like a bitcoin price.

The games are multiplying like mushrooms after the rain, there are more and more spectators, but soon there may be a moment when you have to choose. What I spend my time on and what I choose. For some players, this may be a Valorant or CS:GO dilemma.

Valorant looks incredible, your opinions?
Do you consider it to be serious contender to its genre-competitors?

Do you presume it to be harmful to CS:GOs current popularity?

I don't know. I wrote this post before the premiere based on reports and my only predictions. As you can see now, the audience is massacred. But let's wait with the assessment. Let's give 2-3 weeks.

And honestly. I do not have time to play it. If the game is accepted, maybe, but watching the streams I am not at all convinced. However, it is obvious that people want new things like this one
