The first one from 82 is *amazing*, watch the Director's Cut, though. (I'm not a snob but I also believe that people don't actually need exposition - the producers did, that's why it was there, but it's just as good with as without, so... your choice really.)
The newer one is okay, but far from magnificent. It has its moments, and definitely extends the original ideas very well. Excellent acting, beautiful fx.
I've never even heard of the game, but I have heard of what you're talking about.
Just watch the movies, and then maybe play Deus Ex Human Revolution. That's about as blade runner as you can get without the IP.
