no they arent , the moment fortnite dies ,they have to match steams cut and then its gameover , besides the fact they then wont be able to bribe devs anymore
Right calling me a fanboy for se this as a good move. Guess the comunity is the only thing that have changed by this.
Its a Mafia move, just like when another Mafia attacks you and the other one comes in and says, "We will get you a better offer, if you agree with us on this deal"
Judging from other games on Epic that went exclusive, then I think its fair to say alot of people will just stay clear. Then factor in how old console games that are ported to PC sells.. all in all, this should not worry customers, nor Valve.. Its just Epic trying to get more advertisement, but I guess most still will not really care.
Live in hope I suppose? Played through all of Until Dawn and that was a weird one in a fun way.
Cool if that the game is still playable on PC for many years to come after the console tech to run it has died off.
Except they also deal in game engines and reward dev's for using it.
Good for the devs but buyers wont be buying their games on Epic games store and when the games do get released on steam i dont think many would care to much.
Not to mention that waiting for a game is typically better than buying it day-one, as by the time you buy it they'll have DLC, patches, and bug fixes already out. Based on what the Phoenix Point guys said, they were bought with around 2 million, and I don't want to reward Epic's exclusivity war by actually buying from them, as that gives them no incentive to get a better launcher, and rewards crappy business practices (for us customers anyways), so in the short term, screw Epic, if they change their attitude and stop this exclusivity crap and begin to actually improve their crap, I'll look at their store, until they do, I'm not giving them a cent.
