If a company announced their next game was only available on Steam - not just requiring Steam, but it's the only place you can even purchase it - nobody would bat an eye. I'd wager there'd even be people bragging about how it shows how great Steam is.

4A games developer scynet said he was "personally feel sorry for the loyal fans" and THQ Nordic which owns Deep Silver and Koch Media stated that "the decision to publish Metro Exodus as a timed Epic Store exclusive was made entirely on Koch Media's side" and then further spoke out against the exclusive deal saying, "speaking in the here and now, we definitely want to have the players choose the platform of their liking and make our portfolio available to as many outlets as possible." That sure sounds like a not-so-subtle apology to me as well as a condemnation of the game's exclusivity deal.

Must not be great sales since the developer also threatened to not release any more Metro games on PC.

First of all what Scynet said was his own personal view and did not represent the views of 4A.
Second of all it was THQ Nordic GmbH that stated they prefer to go on as many platforms as possible, and they do not own Koch Media, so what they say really doesn't matter because it isn't their company anyways, which means they are not apologizing for anything either.
Both Koch Media and THQ Nordic GmbH are subsidiaries of a parent company called THQ Nordic AB. The CEO of THQ Nordic AB spoke out in support of Koch Media's decision though.

What Scynet said about not releasing any more Metro games to the PC was:
1- Again his own personal view
2- Not his decision to make, that is the publishers decision to make.
3- It was stated just 2 days after hitting the Epic store and before the game even released.
So what he said cannot be used as any kind of clue to how the sales were/are going.
you know i would just shut down my company if the other guy's that are involved in my game did the epic exclusivity stuff then reopen it (I don't have a company yet)
This is honestly the most dumb thread ever, I thought people would come to a conclusion that Epic Games is 4x richer than Valve.
And let's say they did have that money, there is still a possibility that they wouldn't buy it.
Sry 4 spam. I think another great thread could take it's place. People need to see this.
Why do people care about epic anyway? It's not like their games our exclusive to consoles or something, we can still play them easily and are we not capable of friending people on more than one platform?
Monopolies are bad in my opinion, so no.
Both companies should do a live simulcast and announce that Valve bought Epic. However, the representative from Valve is at Epic's event and says that the name on the contract is Newell...but it's not Gabe Newell. He then reveals that it's signed by himself, Gabe's son, Gray Newell! Gray Newell bought Gabe Newell's competition. Gray Newell is now Gabe Newell's competition! :zfear:

I got this idea from watching too much pro wrestling.
THIS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ THREAD AGAIN, JESUS CHRIST
