WAV to MP3 converter
I have a WAV file that is over 2 Gb in size, but I can't convert it. I tried various websites and software, but either it's "BUY this software to unlock its full potential" or "your file has reached the maximum size of 100 Mb" xD

Any recommendations?

Try VLC Media Player. It's free.
Are you kidding me? I only use it to play media, didn't know it had a converter.
Try NCH software
There are free online converters. No need to install anything.
Just had to google the same thing as your title..

Anyways, I use this: https://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-mp3
There are a million of them online.
Use ffmpeg, it is a command-line program, but is super simple, here is a command that matched what you would be doing:

ffmpeg -i audio.wav -acodec libmp3lame audio.mp3

Better question:

Why do you have a 2gb wav file?

Yeah I didn't think wavs ... even like, existed that large. The format can't possibly support it, can it?

Did you accidentally the whole thing?
download audacity and LAME mp3 encoder

fastest and easiest way to convert audio file formats.

https://www.audacityteam.org/download/

https://lame.buanzo.org/#lamewindl

just point the Audacity library preferences to the folder you put LAME in and its good to go.

Best answer

1) Open the VLC player and navigate to Media > Convert/Save (or CTRL+R).

2) Add the wav file to the list.

3) Press the Convert/Save button on the lower part of the menu.

4) In the new menu, select Audio > MP3 from the Profile submenu.

(you can do the same with videos, etc - just need to know the formats to convert)

There's a lot of ways; using the VLC player which is usually by default on your computer (instructions how are indicated by an user above). Downloading Audacity and doing it from there, or looking for a website to do it for you online.

There could be many reasons. Don't know his case, I've made music that had a really big filesize before. Specially if you ever delve onto working entirely based around samples (e.g. musical artists like Fatboy Slim, but also Squarepusher or Aphex Twin on a smaller degree) they can take quite some space in terms of loading up all the sounds and the patterns assigned to them, or working with very high quality recordings & VST/VSTi, also depends on what DAW you process them on and how you render them. WAV is basically lossless and uncompressed so it doesn't surprise me.

Try the freeware: Audacity
Going to second ffmpeg as being fast and easy
