what do people have against discord light theme?
i personally like discord light theme and when i take a screenshot of a message and send it everyone goes insane on me, can someone please explain why people hate light theme so much?

We black theme lovers hate white theme lovers becos they are racist. I'm also biasly one side, have no sense of logic or balance, hold onto grudges from before I was born that don't affect me... plus this might just be some kinda dark satire.

However seriously, a dark theme was created due to most use it during night-time, making it easier on the eyes. However, there's nothing really bad about the light theme either. It's just a silly bias reason if anything and shouldn't affect them anyways. So why care? By caring or even pushing it the other way, you end up with the same illogical reason, just flipped.

There's also the secret dark theme that uses black instead of grey. That's what I use.

Honestly, when I hears about it I switched over to light theme. Datk theme looks a bit better I guess, but now I'm too lazy to switch back.

This is a super old thread (I'm sorry LOL) -- but the stats are 100% because of the visibility. *For most people* light mode having a white background can seem blinding at times because of the light that technology gives off. The small black letters against the white can seem hard to see unless you specifically zoom and make the fonts bigger. While the white letters against the dark background are much easier seen. The general appearance of black against white not being pleasing to the eye vs the white against grey looking nice is also much preferred to most people. There is also the factor of dark mode consuming less power since the screen isn't being lit up all the way. That is the same idea as having your brightness all the way up vs low or all the way down, performance and battery power noticeably improve when the brightness is lower. Personally, I use dark mode on every platform. Light mode hurts my eyes, the small black letters against the bright white background are hard to see, I don't like the general appearance of any of it. If light mode were more off-white like a book, I might like it better, but as it stands, I am noticeably irritated when any given website doesn't have dark mode lol!
Editting to add, I like that most dark modes are grey / blue / etc. I think part of the problem of the little black letters against the white is /contrast/. I'm adding this because someone said they use black instead of the regular dark theme, and I personally feel like I would hate that as much as I hate the white. The stark contrast is almost painful to the eyes imo.
