Has Duke Nukem ever been funny?
I just watched some videos about dodgy PS1 Duke games and i couldn't shake the feeling that zero of Duke's jokes and one liners were even remotely funny.
I'm in my 30's and love comedians like Bill Burr and Andrew Dice Clay so i can appreciate dumb macho, misogynistic jokes but Duke Nukem is lame.
He has one good game and he's lame.

There you go.

Steam's tag-system is just inherently flawed. Try to ignore it.

Rule of thumb: If Valve made it or the community is involved, it probably doesn't function properly or doesn't make sense.
They literally tagged Paw Partrol with "cold war" and "psychological horror."
It's such kind of moronic things that you have to deal with on Steam.

Funny? No. It's always been cringe. Fortunately, Duke 3D was a genuinely good game.

The other development team just kept trying to change everything whenever new hardware came out - instead of releasing the game on one system, and then moving onto the next - It was their own fault for everything that happened.

Releasing a game with game mechanics, that would have been revolutionary in 1998 in 2011, where these mechanics had already been standard for at least 5 years certainly did not help.

Everything about dnf and duke himself was dated when it came out - I'm not sure if the developers realized that - however gearbox surely did - no news or nothing - they just ended that franchise.
If you played the games as some of your first and and thought going around collecting babes was normal (as far as you knew it was) and hadn't seen any violent R rated action movies like Eraser, you can't retroactively appreciate the games for being pastiche in the same way as if you had that cultural context first.
Or him mocking doomguy for being unalived by aliens in a certain level. Wasn't funn?

You know, you remind me of Duke Nukem... Forever.

*Runs away*
Still go back to Duke Nukem 3D every so often. Game is that good. Even though the Sentry Drone's kamikaze attack sucks a$$.
he's an 80s action movie parody

It's an antihero. It's not supposed to be funny or likeable..
does that mean hes a badly written antihero if i find him funny and likeable
I hate the entire Duke Nukem franchise, all games suck. Postal 2 is what they could never achieve.
No love for the secret room on the Enterprise where Picard went to jack off to porn?

For shame.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
