When I switched from 144hz to 240hz I was able to feel the difference.
People who play slow games won't feel it as much as people who play fast FPS games.
In Fortnite, yeah, it's a funny to give Forknight as an example, but because of all the movement while building, you can see the enemies easier / less blury. At 120hz the input lag is reduced pretty decent, at 240hz you can see people pretty clear while doing 180s (turn ons) etc.
I will get a decent 1440p 144hz+ or 4K 120hz. 240hz feels good but 120hz+ is enough. My main issue is the input lag that makes 60hz trash...
(and the faster you set the refresh, the worse the contrast ratio became)
Fun fact though. A high refresh rate monitor makes a lower framerate look smoother if you don't have any VSync enabled.
Video direct link since Steam's player still nullifies timestamped YT videos
This is talking about CS:GO but it's pretty interesting stuff to know anyway, as it explains how the fun fact I said earlier, works.
but its not THAT bad
you realise u can get 144hz monitors for like $200
on average i spend less than $200 every month
my 144hz monitor has gsync , and is in 1440p and was like 500€ more or less , thats just one qurtarter of the price you claim they cost , if you get one that has no gsync , already far cheaper , if you get one thats just 1080p instead of 1440p or 2160p , again cheaper
I will probably never buy a console, I don't see any reason to do so.
I'm a programmer, IT enthusiast and like to play games.
I plan to buy a steering wheel and play some racing simulations with VR.
Buying a console is like, locking yourself to a specific brand and they decide what you can play and what you can't. On PC you do what you want, where you want and when you want.
If console is your thing, go with it.
60Hz is slightly cheaper then 144Hz, and I don't have anything like a GTX 1080ti or a i9 9900k to run those badly optimized games at 144FPS
I'd recommend 144hz even if you play with a 1050ti, i mean a 1080ti is pretty overkill in most systems, right now you're fine with a 1060
