Harry Potter: Sectumsempra probably wasn't evil spell, Harry made it so

What if Snape developed the Sectumsempra spell to easily cut the sopophorous bean (the jumping bean) since the sopophorous bean was proving very difficult to cut up.

Harry used it on Draco and the spell had the same effect on Draco's body as it would have on the bean

Snape was not more evil than James. James was worse in facxt because James was an hypocrite ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Snape at least was coherent with his own morality and opinions and did not do evil or cruel things for cheap reasons

Also Sectumsepra could have been a spell meant to fight against enemies only when it was strictly necessary.
Sectumsempra could have been a spell meant to hurt people and Snape could have created it but not to use it in a cheap way. Snape was not evil imo. He could have been cruel, biased and so on but he was never evil, James was, evil irresponsiblew and idiot. Snape maybe hated common people (people without magic powers) but he wouldn't have done evil things against them without good reasons.

People can be biased but at the same time know what they are not supposed to do and know what is wrong and unfair.

Snape was like that imo.
He was much better than James.

Harry did not mean to hurt Draco so much and Snape of course knew it despite his hate for Harry, also Draco was trying to kill somebody himself anyway (not to mention that he have always been a major ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ since the beginning and seek for troubles countless times. Sooner or later you get what you are seeking for)

That’s a pretty nice theory, and I would say it could be argued the spell might have been developed for some other reason, but it’s pretty clearly stated by, I believe it’s Lupin, that sectumsempra was something Snape had made himself famous for at an earlier point. I think he mentions it after Snape uses it on George’s ear.

The curse was invented by Snape and recorded during his time as a student at Hogwarts for use in retaliation against his enemies, such as the Marauders.. He did used it enough to allow Lupin to recognise it as one of his signature spells.
Sure Potter used it against Draco and later on Snape used it against George Weasley. So Since Snape used it in combat... its not that innocent spell afterall.

There was a note in the book that said it was meant to be used against enemies too, so it's like Snape himself made it clear it was meant to be used in combat.
