It's also not like anyone is trying to sneak one past you. He's openly stated in stream before that he has donated thousands to streamers. All we have here is a reiteration of something he never tried to hide in the first place.
Everyone has their own opinion of how people should spend their money, but ultimately it's up to the individual.
The problem is if she pay tax for it or not .
Quick definition of early access: 'Early access, also known as early funding, alpha-access, or paid-alpha, is a funding model in the video game industry by which consumers can pay (or get it for free) for a game in the various development cycles (pre-alpha, alpha, beta) and obtain access to the pre-full release versions of the game, while the developer is able to use those funds to continue work on the game'.
Spending money on groceries, yo, that'd be totally cool by me, because it's a necessity. The money I gave to The Isle I expected to go towards anything ranging from house maintenance, living costs, to game development. Of course, it would be foolish to assume absolute all of it would go towards essentials, Dondi's a human, he's gotta treat himself once in a while. But $4,000 to a cause that doesn't directly benefit him? There isn't a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ streamer that deserves a lump sum of that amount, but that's a different argument altogether.
Imagine this, you invest into a company, and that company then proceeds to take your investment and give it away to another company completely separate from their own. The intention behind your investment is ignored and dismissed; lost. This isn't comparable to buying groceries you seemingly defensive idiot, because that's necessary. $4,000 given away to a streamer though, that's just excessive.
The only way it is remotely justifiable is if that streamer then proceeded to promote The Isle. A marketing scheme, otherwise it was just a pointless sink of money given to him by people who surely didn't expect it to be used so randomly, unsparingly and unrelatedly.
Wouldn't that be what a grateful, conscientious person would do if they cared about their product?
There is an expectation to invest some of the money back into the game, sure, but the only sin is if they don't. That's not what's happening here. They're continuing to fund all aspects of development. Even if those (very low) hourly wage estimates are accurate (which they're probably not), 8 days isn't much to lose. Nor is it sensible to apply this philosophy to a single job field, and not expect the same from every other job field.
In the end you just don't get to dictate how people spend their income. No more than people should judge you for buying videogames with yours.
Also some of the devs dont get paid for the amount of hours they work. Take the people that make models as an example of you make this model and I pay you for the model itself and not the time you spent making it (Lets say 3000$ per model).
