You do or you don't. Not everything was made to appeal to you, jit.
I mostly enjoy the competitive scene of Pokemon since it involves a lot more strategy and doesn't just let you sweep every team with a little grinding. The main downside is that it's very luck-oriented, even given the restrictions that apply in Pokemon Showdown.

Play me in showdown.
You mean the original Pokemon (bird eye view) games or Pokemon Go?

It's roleplaying in an adventure world with collecting, evolving, and fighting things.

Ever played the game Zelda, similar concept.

The Pokemon Go version gets people outside into the real world to get some exercise and actual social interactions with friends, but roleplays the same over top.

Weren't they bashing Pokemon Eevie (sorry if I got it wrong) for being too casual? I'd actually want to try that game because I'm not into competitive or difficulty... but I played the demo and just couldn't understand what to do and how to have fun. Random characters attack me, I get creatures, walk around in a weird forest, same characters teleport to different places and then the battles are all turn-based, which is something I don't like, too (with some exceptions like Dragon Quest or Persona).
Haven't played that game.

Nah
Roasted. With garlic, rosemary, and oregano. Before putting it in the over, sear it first in a cast iron skillet to add some colour.

Personally, I like them grounded and made into a burger.

I could never understand the appeal of Pokemon games. The gameplay, I mean. It looks very cute and fun, cozy like Dragon Quest but the gameplay is something I can't understand very much. Can anyone explain how one might enjoy this type of game, please?
i have the same mindset when it comes to pokemon. it looks good, but gets boring fast. if i wanted to play pokemon myself, all i would do is change my mindset. not everyone has this skill, but if you are able to change the way you think about things on command, it'll help a lot. this obviously has limits, but pokemon is not.
Pokemon is one of those games you have to been playing since a child to get its appeal, if you want to enter the series, i would just start with Red / Blue

i doubt it would make a difference, the mechanics are still the same.

You either like the gameplay or you don't. You really don't have to like it, it's popular but it doesn't have a broad appeal that tries to cater to everybody. The games have gotten much easier since they turned 3D, if difficulty is an important topic to you you should try any generation accordingly.

I grew up with Pokémon, but I didn't really like the gameplay until I was an adult. I appreciate the grind and the challenge of the older games much more now, I also liked what X/Y had to offer but I'd rather play Emerald or Diamond if I want the Pokémon experience. Pokémon Let's Go for example tries to be both a console Pokémon Go and also a Pokémon Yellow remake but it doesn't want to commit to either. It's alright, but a lot of the fun of Pokémon comes from the challenge. That's why the competitive scene is so active, that's why people came up with challenges themselves.

You should definitely check out Pokémon Mystery Dungeon though, if you like storydriven games. The combat is rather simple and you're mostly just "exploring" anyway. But the stories are so good, especially for the second generation. But red/blue team is a good start to try.
i agree. the orignal pokemon mystery dungeon had a good storyline.
I understand what you mean. I couldn't get into Pokemon, even if some of them are adorable.

the gameplay (battles at least) is very similar to dragon quest, I've no idea how you can't understand it
