Why almost every song that comes out is only 3 minutes long

Title, firstly i thought its only a thing in sh*tty mumble rap but i feel like that every song has to be 3 minutes long, max somewhere below 4 min mark

I mean now that i think about it you replay it more times when its shorter so that might be the trick but, sure there are some genres where this doesnt happen that often but rap, pop or something else is pretty full of it

I guess it's our short attention spans and the fact we have been feed into that our entire life as the norm. Then if some collector wants an old school vinyl copy, they can also have that.

you are right but you have to agree that 5 minutes is more than 3 .. the 3 mins just kinda pass away too fast without you realizing, i think 5 mins is ideal

Really? My observations are that popular music songs have gotten longer. Look at the Beatles for example; they had pretty short songs, like 2-3 minutes sometimes, but nowadays we get 4-5 minute songs.

If you're looking for longer songs, try some 1970's-era progressive rock - many prog bands have recorded songs that run longer than 10 minutes (on a couple occasions, even as long as 45 minutes!)

Most of the music I listen to is alot longer, some of them are hours long
Maybe its because you are just hearing modern music on the radio?

I think you didnt get my question right there mate. I wanted to say that modern songs (doesnt matter the genre) are often just 3 mins long, for me ideal lenght is 5 mins, or i just keep playing the whole album: I cant imagine someone enjoying a 3 minute song.. its just passes away too quickly, that was people replay it more.

Most people that listen to modern "music" have no sense about music anyway.
You see they are basically the same song over and over again (they all use the same formula)
They run 440 hz (you can't actually hear all the tones due to this) They all have one of several rythems that have been identified as a easy catch rythem" many of them also "not just due to hz" have very heavy post production effects on them (half the pop musicians sound awful without) almost none of them can play an instrument either.

But that is what the avarage joe wants and its too risky to actually invest in something that might be or might not be popular, that is why you see this trend.. The question to ask however is.. Why do you listen to it in the first place? Are you also a
