Rumblings of discontent are spreading through Steam after the latest update.

Actually that's a lie, there's a whole horde of angry users on the Steam Community and Steam Discussions boards throwing metaphorical rotten fruit and demanding a return to the old Steam Skin. Could we be witnessing a revolt? Will Steam revert back, or will Valve persist? Place your bets.

Never in six years have I seen this many people this angry about one issue, or so vocal in expressing it.

They've changed just enough that existing Steam Skins don't work.

Yeah, they exist. I don't know how many people use them, but they're freely available. I normally use Air, it's a much sleeker and more modern white/blue interface. Unfortunately the update broke it, with some out-of-place text.

I'd say roughly the same amount complained back when they changed the UI and this was when they changed the Client UI and not just the chat UI. It changed nothing when those people complained.

It also added a new Chat system, which is basically Discord except it doesn't work anywhere near as well. And there's now a very annoying popup that appears in the middle of your screen whenever you open Steam.

I always had a popup. It was usually just advertising a game or something on Steam. Tho is this one in the update different?
