They've changed just enough that existing Steam Skins don't work.
Yeah, they exist. I don't know how many people use them, but they're freely available. I normally use Air, it's a much sleeker and more modern white/blue interface. Unfortunately the update broke it, with some out-of-place text.
They're alternative and freely available Steam UIs. For example Steam Air replaces the blue and grey with a very different looking white screen design, picked out with holographic blue details. Very sleek, much more modern looking.
It also added a new Chat system, which is basically Discord except it doesn't work anywhere near as well. And there's now a very annoying popup that appears in the middle of your screen whenever you open Steam.
