As you probably know the trailer for “Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters” dropped last Saturday at SDCC.

Being a fan of the franchise I think viewing this trailer made me nut harder than any man has before. So I want to hear other people’s opinions :steamhappy:

I saw Mothra and King Ghidorah - this is going to be a good movie.
I know I saw Mothra and King Ghidorah but wasn't that also freaking Rodan. Just near the end of the trailer the thing with the really pointy looking wings. I'm pretty sure that was Rodan and I'm totally okay with both Mothra and Rodan and King Ghidorah being in this movie. Actually since they played it up so heavy with Kong Skull Island I'm pretty surprised we didn't see a giant monkey.

And as a lifetime Godzilla fan that trailer is freaking awesome. I actually just finished watching the two animated Godzilla movies that are on Netflix and I totally need more giant monster.

That comment reminded me of how absolutely badass Kaiser Ghidorah was in final Wars, which I think is possibly my favorite Godzilla movie aside from the original. When Godzilla begins his Rampage and every other single Monster except for Jet Jaguar shows up and he just curb Stomps the crap out of them is awesome. Man I am going to watch the heck out of that right now.

Godzilla: Final Wars was considered by many to be the ultimate Godzilla movie of all time. I have to say I agree with that statement as I love that movie a lot. It was just non-stop action, and ended the early 2000's Godzilla series the best way it could. I recently watched that movie myself over the weekend on a PlutoTV station that I got for free on my Roku. Best weekend ever when that movie came on. :steamhappy:
I can't think of anything that movie doesn't have. We've got cool super-powered spaceships that also seem to involve a drill for some reason, we've got a guy that looks almost exactly like Jesse Ventura beating up space ninjas, we've got well space ninjas, for the first time in the history of the Godzilla movie aside from Mickey we get human characters that are not Superfluous to the plot, we get Godzilla going head-to-head with nearly every single one of his Rogues gallery and when it kicks off it kicks off hard and doesn't stop for the next 40 minutes. It is by far one of my favorites in the series, even though it's technically the exact same plot as Destroy All Monsters.

Plus they really do take care of that Matthew Broderick Godzilla movie don't they?

I used to sleep with my nearly 2ft tall plastic godzilla toy. Most little kids have a teddy bear or something soft and squishy, I had Godzilla watchin' my back.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ creature under the bed
Dude in the closest, prepare to get nuked!
Shadows dacning across the walls PFFT, you ain't got ♥♥♥♥!

I wish I still had that, probably be worth a fortune now days if I had kept it and kept in great shape,,,,, or I'd of died of lead poisoning since so many toys back then were frickin' toxic as hell.

Speaking of toxic
First time I ever heard the term "recall" was my Voltron lions were being recalled for lead paint. I had the diecast metal ones, each individual one was heavy, but combined the damn thing probably weighed 10 lbs. (probably exagerating a bit, I was kid then)
Actually you know I remember the diecast metal Voltron and you're probably not that far off weight-wise I think they were about 2 lb of metal a piece. I'm so glad I didn't actually own the metal ones now though. Speaking of which two foot plastic Godzilla was that about the time Godzilla 1985 came out? Because I remember those plastic Godzilla's being everywhere right around that time. Also I was a sad child I only had the Blue Lion so my lion turned into a foot. Turning into a foot is not very cool.
I got mine from a thrift store, so I was lucky. If not for that I'd of never of known what Voltron was other than a fleeting glimpse of them on cable at a friends house.

No, this was prior to the 1985,, lemme see if I can find a pic on google of it.

Can't find it, maybe it was a knockoff. It sorta looked like the Shogun warriors version but the hands didn't come off.

Yeah I use to have the v1 plastic Mecha Godzilla back in the late 80's early 90's. I still have no idea where it went. It just went missing one day. In the mid 90's I also use to have the Godzilla micro playset. You know the one that was Godzilla's head, and it would open up to become a mini city inside with mini figures for the monsters. It was exactly like the old Mighty Max playsets.

I think I do actually remember that. You are the Envy of my childhood.

I actually found it here: https://www.amazon.com/Godzilla-Micro-Battle-Playset-Towers/dp/B004A6DR6Y I use to have that one, and this one: https://www.amazon.com/Vintage-Godzilla-Playset-Angeles-Hollywood/dp/B004A67TMC

Yeah too bad I was the only kid in my school that actually liked Godzilla back in the 90's. :2016imnotcrying:

EDIT: Found the Mecha Godzilla figure I had it was part of the 1983 Bandai toy line. https://www.amazon.com/Bandai-Godzilla-Highly-Detailed-Collectible/dp/B00866UPQY

Yeah I wish I still had them as well as Super Godzilla for the SNES. I know many people didn't like the game, but it was so easy to exploit the enemy monster AI. All you had to do was hold down on the D-pad to defend, and alternate that with moving forward. The enemy monsters would almost never attack you. The only time you would take damage was if the enemy monster was already in an attack animation right before you defend again after moving. Heck in the final battle if you take the wait for Super X path you can just wait out the timer by holding down defend the entire time. The final boss will never attack you when doing this.

I wish I had my Godzilla toy, my Voltron lions, and OMG the amount of old school Zoids I had. I bought most of them myself with money I earned helping my uncle mow yards over various summers. I actually only had 1 real Zoid, the rest were I think called Robostrux. Had like 20 of them but they were cheap compared to real zoids. Earn 5-20$ from a yard, walk to Kmart and buy a new robot.
Damn it, the trailer is wonderful. I love the music, Mothra scene looks beautiful, King Ghidorah looks pretty menacing even though he has a short appearance in the trailer and I love the ending where Godzilla roars while the fighter jets flies around him to support him.

Okay so I'm not the only one that actually noticed that. The Jets were not attacking Godzilla they were actually flying by in support, which means there's probably going to be at least a few more Monsters Among seeing the trailer because the human backing Godzilla to take them out turn on which is actually want once explained in the first movie is that Godzilla hunt these things. Oh man what side does that put Mothra on

Okay legitimately now actually super excited to see this movie.

It will likely be pretty okay. At least better than that 1998 Godzilla where Godzilla looked more like a derpy T-rex than he did Godzilla.
