Why do People Hate Rats?

I'm really curious as to why a lot of people hate rats. Sure, the ones on the streets are dirty and spread disease, but think about the cute little domesticated ones. Domestic rats are clean for the most part.

Me, I love rats. I own two of them and they're the sweetest little balls of love anyone can ask for. They even give me little love licks on my hands. They're smart, can learn their names, and can do tricks of you train them enough.

So, please, tell my why any one of you hate the little balls of love.

I know not all rodents are bad n such. Just that certain people believe that if one rat or rodent is bad, then the rest is bad. Just like how if one specific dog type is seen vicious, the rest are the same. People just shouldn't jump to conclusion that "one bad apple spoils the rest".

Never had any domestic rats so I can't give an opinion on them being pets.

I did have a guinea pig once. Didn't last long, though.

Though non-domesticated rats are filthy and may carry diseases so they get exterminated before they can cause issues.

When I was quite little, I had a pet rat.

A white one with red eyes. He was so cool and smart too! Taught him how to climb ropes and go around a maze, stuff like that. I could train him.

They look menacing.
