Butterfly/Balisong knives
I've got into butterfly knives recently because i wanted to buy one as one of christmas gifts for a girl. She would really like to get into flipping and just generally wants one. May seem like a odd gift but its sure not the only thing and i know she would like to get one.

Back to topic, i really only need a good flipper. The biggest issue here is it shouldnt be a trainer or dull blade. Also im on a limit because im not planing to buy one of those 500$ ones thats just impossible and pointless since its not that serious. Also another thing is that since i got into it recently i thought i could buy one for myself to learn tricks also so it will cost more. Some people recommended me the bear and son 114 or the 115w saying they are good for starters. Feel free to suggest anything. Hope off topic is the right forum to ask.

That's just a dumb statement tbh
Most parents don't allow kids to get any kind of dangerous items. Also, trainees don't count.
Why should adults allow it?
in my country they are even forbidden by law, thats why only children use them cause they cause to much trouble for adults..
Well, they're legal where I live and a lot of adults buy them

these kind of hobbies are mostly used in elementary, same as finger boards and yo-yos.. at a certain age you dont use them anymore cause they dont provide enough entertainment
I've never seen kids flipping balisongs
True, in states maybe i guess but its completely unkown here, also how does a sharp trick knife compare to jojos, beyblades or whatever people are mentioned here

Hey, don't underestimate the power of yo-yos, they can be deadly if used correctly.

the things you do for entertainment are the same.. no matter if its sharp or not, you try to make some cool moves.. its pretty much the same
Well, I guess you can say the same thing about skateboarding, cycling etc.
Hey, the marines that do cool things with their guns for a show count as well i guess.

Only in the movies, we dont have kids packing knives in school here, not even mentioning something like a gun.

"we dont have kids packing knives"? you rly believe that? If they grow up they many of them use them for self defence to avoid bullies or even are the bullies

One advantage of living in a country that has less people then average town is that problems with weapon use among kids is nowhere near as bad. Especially because we dont sell them at supermarkets here. Think there has been only one incident involving a handgun in school here in last 100 or so years and that was kid shooting his teacher with the revolver he stole from his dad.
