That's called K9 dogs or Tazers.
The only purpose of a gun is to kill, it's what it's designed to do. Whether it be an animal, an human adult, or even a child. In most cases, it's the child.
The Bloods gang likes the colour red, but the Cripz gang likes the colour blue. They mistook a school student wearing the wrong colour shirt down the road and shot him dead due to it.
Please name your "variety of ways".
And please someting else than
* Warning shot
* Shoot animals
* Shoot people
* Shoot targets
Looks like me and the boys stil have work to do. *♥♥♥♥♥ gun*

Couldn't hurt?
Just stop the media about scapegoating video games, such as GTA 5, for being the cause of an eight year old picking up a loaded gun from a living room table, with the safety off, shooting his sitter dead. It's the bad parenting, the babysitter and stupid gun laws, get it right!
Hunting
Self defense
A very simple way guns are used all the time as deterrents. The security guard at the bank who's mere presence discourages criminals. The police officer brandishing his weapon to get otherwise violent criminals to turn themselves in peacefully.
But I agree with you, if you think guns only purpose is to kill people, maybe you shouldn't own a gun.
Oh and the kid in the video was creepy.
I agree there's bad parenting.
Which circles all the way back to this:

Which becomes blindsided, due to the love of guns:

Back at square one. Anyways...

I hope you're not a parent.
You are on the right path, kinda...
It's like teaching a 4 year old how to drive a car to make it safer, it doesn't work well at that age.
If you are a hunter, you could lock up a firearm in a safe, such as a rifle. Keeping it away from children and the works. Certain firearms licenses could be valid and still work well with strict control. If that gun is seen out in public, get arrested. Private property usage only.
However, a purchase of a gun for a standard family man to protect his family is illogical and will likely cause more damage than good. You would have to keep that gun outside of a safe, loaded and ready for use at a moments notice, in order for it to be any form of protection. Then in most cases, a child or the criminal himself will grab it before you. You could just be sleeping at the time. A dog is a much safer option, kid friendly (even with the myth of dangerous breeds such as pitbulls and bulldogs, they aren't actually dangerous if a good owner and are actually great with families even babies) and will give you warning well before someone has entered your property line.

I personally would trust a dog over a gun any day, but that's just me perhaps.
Yeaa, Young kids do allways what their parents told them.
Anyone a other meaning ?
So before the NRA training video the kids would of been taught absolutely nothing about guns. They find a "toy" gun in a box full of other toys and what would of happened? The kids would of played with the guns. But because of the NRA training video they called for help.
Sure they looked down the barrel of the guns, but it was clear no magazine in the gun and their fingers were never on the trigger. Good thing they knew to call an adult.
As for whether those kids were really taught by their parents about gun safety it's hard to actually know. ABC pushes fake news. Sorry you can't lie to your viewers about fake Russian Collusion for years and then still try to pretend what they do is journalism.
It's very clear that you need to give this a watch.
