It´s disgusting, suspenseful, there is science-fiction, and it has some horror.
The only things it does not have, is some group of people who are paranoid of each other. Also, there isn´t much getting killed in it. But it is positively terrible.
The fly with the jurassic park guy
Cabin in the Woods is a weird meta-comedy. Don't think that counts.
The Descent would probably be closer in tone.
I have seen the american version of the movie and I have also read the original book.
The original book is wonderful, I highly recommend it I really loved it, but the american movie was really "meh"... if not plain bad. Not the worst movie ever probably, but really really disappointing and rather dumb too.
I have also read the sequels but they are bad imo, even the books are really bad. I would recommend ONLY the first book. It is very very good.
Up here in Canada, we get our movies 'pre-filtered', as in, even in the theatre/cinema, our movies are already changed. Alien and Heavy Metal are the ones I know of personally (showing my age here a bit lol) where some of the more violent scenes and drug use were taken out (eg. in Heavy Metal, the two alien guys use a machine to make lines of powder, but in the Canadian version, this scene doesn't happen - I saw it in a USA video long after - despite that scene being shown in a still on the back of the tape in the store).
I wonder if, instead of 'pre-filtering' or editing movies anymore, they just do complete re-makes of movies from other regions these days?
One of my all time favorites.
You`re right, i still find it funny that Colin Wilson called it the worst movie.
