Did developers still use men for female character motion capture in games?
m notice that in Gta online, all gta games, fallout 4 etc, that women clearly walks and behave like guys (you can clearly see that in motion capture). its too hard to ask women to do motion capture or money is the problem?

Money wouldn't be the problem because they would pay the women less.

They probably got lazy, I doubt money is an issue for Rockstar, but I personally would've preferred to see a difference
DucGrandma 2020 年 2 月 25 日 上午 2:31
Nah, so far only Rockstar does that, just look into CDPR, NRS, Capcom and all PS3-4 games
GuRu Asaki 2020 年 2 月 25 日 上午 2:55
Or maybe there is not a way of talking like a guy or a girl? Feminime definitely.

Anyways, it's just a small detail and I wouldn't get bothered by it.

Honestly, I never really cared... They looked like Women, acted like Women,
& dressed like Women... just because everyone walked on the streets the same
way, does not matter... It could just be a simple way of saying we needed to make
cuts to make the Games work, & this was the answer...

I mean, quite honestly? It is not an easy & simple task, nor a Quick task when
it comes to making GTA type Games... I mean even clothing stores & food joints
are almost all duplicates in GTA Games...

So I see nothing wrong with this... They do spend like 10 Years per Game Release,
I think I could let this slide...

No? Aren't they all just ragdolls anyways, textured to look like 1 gender or another?

This, i'm fine with, but the moment they start changing what they look like,
& their Genders, & such... I'm just up, & done with it... o_@

Perhaps those women actors just walk like men?
or it's possible they were asked not to walk in a feminine manner, it could cause issues with the devices reporting back on limb movements if the devices are moving around too much.

anyone who goes though motion capture either wears a suit with devices hooked up all over their body to capture those movements or without the suit, and i know the recent tomb raider games has Camilla Luddington who does the likeness for Lara Croft and she does motion capture for the character as well.

it's all on youtube if you want to look it up.

Proof? I highly doubt they'd be paying the women less for the same job.
Starbug 2020 年 2 月 25 日 下午 12:28
It's particularly noticeable in GTA. I don't know what they did with the GTA online female toons. I recall my friend complaining that her character walked like a man. A swaggery gait with pointy elbows.

Depends on the studio. Most have men and females usually don't apply for those jobs in game studios. They prefer movies more.

Neither, I want proof of his claims. Especially considering how it's actually illegal in most countries to pay people less for the same job based on something like gender.

It's a well known issue.

Thank you. That is actually an interesting read. I don't get why they have a section where what job people are working and their position isn't taken into account, but I'm glad they have a section where those things are taken into account. Everything I've seen in the past has never taken that into consideration, and so has always been laughable.

It definitely shows that there's a gap, even if it's tiny. That does need to be addressed, and I'm not even sure why it exists in the first place, aside from people just being wankers. XD

Yep. Been that way for a long long time. I want to say like I said earlier, 80 years. IT's getting better, but it's still an issue.
I don't know how he doesn't know it's an issue the world over, or think there's places where that is somehow illegal. Since, I can't think of a single damn country with no pay gap at all.
Not taking specific jobs and positions into account is why I ignore most claims about a wage gap, since those things are crucial to calculating that sort of thing, or of course there's going to be a huge gap. That link was a genuinely interesting read, and the fact they did cover the differences in pay between people of differing genders in the same job and position is nice, though I almost stopped reading at the point they admitted to having a section where those things weren't taken into account.

Basically, your message confused us, because everyone who hasn't been locked in a box for the last 100 years all knows there's a pay gay between men and women. Regardless of the job.
Doesn't matter what job it is.

But it's notable, and it's been that way for a very long time.
I'm not sure how you could ever imagine that it doesn't exist.
I wish to live in the alternate Universe that you came from. :P
I mean that in the nicest way possible.
I probably haven't noticed because I haven't paid much attention tbh. Mainly thanks to most claims not being backed up by actual research, which put me off being interested in finding out about it.

Job does matter though. Men and women tend to go for different jobs, which of course will pay differently, and then there's "gender roles", and it's generally the men going out and working. Sure, that's getting less and less common, but that'll be why the gap has been there for as long as it has, because that's how society has worked for so long. At least as far as I'm aware. Could be wrong on that though lol.

It's a combination of that, and the fact that men had fought women working with them long ago, that being an issue is so silly, but men were like that a long time ago.

What's funny, is 2000 years ago, that wasn't quite an issue. :P The female soldiers in the Roman Legions hid in plain sight, so to speak. They existed. But no one cared to write down enough information to keep it something that had records.
Yeah, that's also true. I think it will have been to do with the general views of men being the providers and protectors, which inevitably leads to some looking down on women as weaker. Obviously not true, though there are undeniable differences between each gender that has each better suited to different roles.

That's interesting, I vaguely remember hearing something like that, and it's pretty funny tbh.
