Why do people judge for wearing a watch
I'm in college and wear watches I have 3 ranging from 150$-460$ nothing too pricy or luxury, I get compliments on them all the time but then after that they ask what's the point of even wearing watches or why would you spend so much on a watch that you have in your pocket on your phone? Like wtf I don't get it do people not know that watches are more than a time piece to they are like a nice braclet or ring necklace ect it's jewlery, it must be cause no one under the age of 30 wears watches or respects them anymore idk I find that strange

It's basically just a piece of jewelry at this point. Some people like it, others think it looks like you're pretentious. I don't care. I would probably wear a Patek Philippe too if I could afford one. It's pretty classy.

I personally don't have an issue with the bling factor as much as the fact people think that mechanical watches are worth a dime. People fawn over the craftsmanship but compared to quartz watches, they are junk. You can buy a 20 buck Timex at Walmart that keeps more accurate time over five years.

I wear a crappy wristwatch from walmart that cost about $25

It tells time and has a stopwatch and alarm. Nobody judges me for it despite wearing it every day.

I think it's mainly because of the stereotype rich peeps wear super-expensive watches to try and flex on us "commoners" or whatever, so people see anyone wearing a nice wristwatch as being somewhat pretentious and/or vain.

You're wearing watches worth a few hundred around a bunch of college students who are probably broke, why do you think you're getting judged lmao

tbh, they bring very fair point, dont get too salty or disappointed because you disagree their opinion
theres no point spending that much money on watch, minus the smart watch if you really dont like to whip out your phone every so often
especially a regular gear driven watch with more needles, it does the same thing as regular $20 watch

also this

Watches are fascinating. I'm a fan

My dad has an 1969 Omega De Ville which he got for (I think) his 21st birthday. I just checked online and a website had it valued at £3,250.

Seems like a mechanical watch + cheap phone is a smarter buy than an iPhone which will be obsolete within 18 months.

Watches are nice, you don't have to reach into your pocket to tell the time.

I don't see why it's relevant how much it cost, though, as long as it tells the time correctly.

Imagine going to a community college in a new Porsche and wondering why you aren't being judged.

Smart watches that allows you to phone people and look at gps navigation actually makes sense these days.
secuda 25/fev./2020 às 8:40
I dont mind them not even the expensive one that only some crown prince only would wear.
They can be "fun" to watch on and dream a bit untill reality hits in like with the sports car that passes by breafly.

Nvr encountered someone who asked that question, and i have several watches for different occasions. It's one of the more essential accessories anyway.
Starbug 25/fev./2020 às 9:15
Smart watches seem an awful waste of money. Many mid range mechanical watches retain their value many years later. A five hundred dollar smart watch wont.
Xautos 25/fev./2020 às 9:19
hmm, gonna put my watch on and proudly display my backwards behaviour. xD
seriously, if it does the nut in of some youngster who wonders why i have a watch and no phone with me, then good. if they consider me old and a relic out of time i'd be laughing at the comment.

I'm going to judge you mostly because you're paying way too much for watches.
