Tourette Syndrome ruined my life
It's 2020 and people still can't comprehend what Tourette Syndrome is when people like me have a full blown tic attack and automaticly think I'm a crazy pychopath. I get that alot. My TS is mild, I'm 30 years old and I didn't get this disease until I was 27. After that my life went down hill and I lost my job because of it and now I'm working a crappy deskjob making way less because I can't do any physical labor or operate any heavy machinery. I don't have the vocal tics which make you say random things or swear I have the worst kind which is body movements, shaking my head, crack my neck, blink my eyes rapidly, lip smacking and throat clearing/coughing. When I'm out in public It get's pretty bad so most of the time I try to isolate myself at home because I'll feel like a freak if I go out. When it comes to people reacting to my tics I get people telling me "Why don't you control yourself?" Yeahh ...That's not how TS works. I did see a doctor couple years back and I got prescibed some medication that decreased my tics a little bit but it also gave me ED which killed my sex life which is dry anyways because no women wants to get with a crazy looking dude lol. Overall my life sucks lol

Learn to sing. Singing will break the Tourettes and most will find they are extremely good at it.

Then when you talk to others/groups, you do so in a talking of song or even a rap. Develop this enough and your talking doesn't even need to sound like it's singing, but rather a very smooth flow and confidence speaker. The ticks just disappear.

Just understand this takes time and practice, it's a technique, but does actually work.

Well the trick isn't in the song, but rather with your head playing out speaking as a song with a rhythm and beat to it. It's that rhythm and timing which prevents the ticks from occurring.

Not the actual singing itself. There's many forms of singing. Just try to work out the timing rather, even if not singing.

Meet other people with Tourette. Maybe you´ll find a friend, girlfriend, a better job !?

Sitting at home will not solve your problems you have with your disease.

It's not a disease, it's a disorder.

Someone please think of the children!

He wrote about weed before, which is actually more correct, but I guess he assumed it was a illegal drug still in places. Against the Steam rules. It would depend on your location if an illegal drug or not. It's because it's been abused too much as a drug, they haven't fully researched the medical side and benefits. They really should start separating this more.

Weed can be broken down into THC (making you high) and CBD (Cannabidiol). You can separate the two and take CBD as an oil drop under the tongue or in a gummy, etc.

With random trials, half having a placebo instead, the non-placebo group found a significant tic reduction in both self-reported and an examiner rating.

CBD reduces both the frequency and intensity of motor and verbal tics.

You would however have to get a medical grade CBD. They are still doing trials in certain places, such as Australia, etc.

The ironic thing people don't see is this will NOT get you high and has LESS side-effects than most other drugs used for treatment. In most cases, you can end up greatly reducing the amount of drug usage while getting better results.

Just note: Don't start about abusing it as a drug please, that's what we want to avoid and respect Steam rules. I was just pointing out separating it's medical side with CBD.

Yes, I believe it was you or someone just before you removed/changed your answer. I can understand why, but wanted to point out it was a logical option. Just misguided by the possible abuse of it.
