MSI Mortar B450m Max minimum PSU
as the title says, for my B-day, I got pretty much all the components for an "overhauled" PC. And among them was the aformentioned Motherboard. Dad also wanted to get me a new PSU, as he thought that the current/old one are becomming old and worn by now. (might as well get one of the modular ones, as moving/tying the excess cables were the biggest hassle/annoyance with my 2nd/soon-to-be-obsolete PC) BUT, he's not sure on how much power the new Motherboard needs.

Hence the question: will another 650w PSU be enough? or do I need to "upgrade" it? or can I safely "downgrade" it?

I'm not planning on overclocking anything (dad thinks that the amount of improved performance's negligible, compared to the accelerated wear & heat buildup.) nor (hopefully) use anything demanding on power.

Mainboards don't need much; the main "eaters" are the CPU and the graphics card.

Well, at the moment, I have a Ryzen 7 2700x (is it one of the Top-of-the-lines? Or just a High-End CPU?) & a GTX 1050Ti. Will that help?

1050ti is a bottleneck in performance, but otherwise yeah, a good 650w psu is enough to future proof with just the one GPU.

650W is actually plenty for that. Unless I had plans to get more demanding stuff into the box, I'd probably even go lower.

As an example -- but it's NOT the same system -- I'm powering my i5-6600K with a GTX-1060, 2 harddisks and a BluRay-writer with a 550W unit. I believe the Ryzen should be slightly higher in consumption, while the 1050Ti is slightly lower.

550W is fine for it since GTX 1050 Ti is very low power consumption card. It would also hold up the upgrade for better graphics card like GTX 1660 Super.
With 650W you can basically run any single graphics card including RTX 2080 Ti.
