It is actually one of the symptoms of schizoprenia:
Hallucinations – this is when someone hears, sees, feels or smells something that is not there. Hearing voices that others cannot hear or when there is no-one else in the room is very typical of psychosis. Sometimes these voices will talk about or to you. They will sometimes command you to do things. For some, these voices can be inside their head; occasionally they may seem to come from within their body.

People get that wrong. Most people with schizoprenia, might "hear" voices (or rather its their own inner voices, that seem foreign to them) But they don't have multiple personality disorder! Hallucination and psychosis however are very common however. I've meet people with schizoprenia and know a few as well, some of them even "well" enough to joke about stuff like "The voice told me so" in situations that were akward. Again this is completely different from our "inner voices"

I am happy about not seeing a big talking spider however, its a very sad disorder.

Ah, you were talking about the personality disorder that was previously mentioned. Common misconception that one and hearing voices.

I do. But if I close my eyes and try and picture say a circle or a face or an object I cannot visualise it

It's weird. If I describe something to myself whilst trying to visualise it it's kinda like I'm drawing a picture in my mind but with invisible paint. Im attempting to crate an image of the memory by say drawing it. Hair up there nose right there. But no image or shape appears. It's a blank.
I attenpt to create it as I would draw it on paper but nothing becomes visible.
