Not if you want to run Steam, XP support ended last year. And not if you want to have a secure system as running an 18 year old OS that MS stopped supporting years ago is generally not advisable for most users, most of the time.
I was just adding to my anecdote, acknowledging that there are some difference between your system and the system the wife was running for light gaming 7-8 years ago that would result in some difference performance outcomes at least sometimes.

But it can run some things. And I'd wager that a lot of stuff between 2000-2003 would run fairly well. He could probably play Morrowind...
