Photons have no rest mass and no volume. They exist in only two dimensions: frequency and amplitude.
like the "Conspiracy Theory" claims.

Edit: this isn't the same as saying The Moon is a NASA hologram. This is a subset of String Theory where the whole universe is a projected hologram and the actual objects are 2-dimensional and exist on the horizon of the universe.

It's saying there's no such thing as volume, that said volume is a holographic illusion. It says so right up there ^^.
Let me help you with the introductory sentence so we are on the same page:

Where it says 'lower-dimensional boundary' you should understand that as '2 dimensions', or one less than our perceived 3. The 3rd would in this theory be illusionary...ie holographic.
Black hole information problem is asking whether any or all of that information will be preserved after the black hole singularity, which is important because a holographic universe implies that the universe will repeat same-or-similar circumstances indefinitely. Like a record on repeat or something.
As for holograms interacting, photons interact with eachother just fine. Similar to how they react with us just fine, as literally all mass-energy can be mathematically described as both a wave and a particle without any loss of consistency.
As a simple way to test this, the next time oncoming traffic is blinding you with their brights just turn your brights on as well. It won't be anywhere near as blinding, as the photons your headlights are putting out will deflect the others in a wave interaction.
Quantum mechanics is mostly formulated around analyzing wave interactions and the information systems they construct.
oh also it's possible that we're a 3d or 4d projection of a 4d or 5d 'block' of matter. Very, very vaguely similar to electrical impulses in a cpu. I think this interpretation is more popular.
Entanglement certainly makes a lot more sense if you add just one more dimension.
Quantum physics is weird. String theory is crazy, but it has some honest-to-goodness simple explanations for a lot of the problems QM presents.
i mean, if we can just reassign somebody's variables to turn them from broken to fixed it's kind of important that we figure that out.
no point messing around with all this diagnostic crap if we can just unzip people and run a checksum, then reupload safe copies of corrupted files.
I think string theory is at least partly correct, but the original development was hindered by only considering particle physics and some of the assumptions made directly contradict observable quantum phenomena.
There was an attempt made at QM String Theory, but they made some even-more-questionable assumptions in order to circumvent concepts like carrier waves, hidden variables, or other spooky ideas.
I got the sense this was done to make the theory more agreeable to particle frameworks, and also to differentiate itself from competing theories, and now the entire idea of a QM/string hybrid is limited by that existing framework.
