It was known in some circles by it's true name Sellotape or its darker more powerful offspring, the mighty duct tape AKA duck tape.
Combined with the appropriate rituals of the day, a heavy shiny coin or similar sparkly trinket may add weight enough to push the button until the "click" was achieved.
Thus prepared, any mere button configured for the task at hand in fact enjoys being weighted with shiny objects and held down with sticky tape.
These kind of buttons were designed and made to be pushed.
It is the sole reason for their existence and so one might dare to imagine their clicking like shrieks of joy ( inaudible to the human ear of course ) when they attain the effect of a constant button pushing but without any of the physical effort, all thanks to their human master.
But behold!
Know ye this also:
These actions, so performed in the correct manner, are to walk a path of self realisation which rewards the seeker with a deeper esoteric knowledge:
That being, there is ultimately no download required!
But I guess its more specifically the selecting a hotkey first they want to automate - and only after that action, comes "holding the button" OP effectively requires instead of just multiples of the same click, click, click, click ........ of a particular key or mouse button to farm stuff quicker in their games.
But if any of the OPs game farming "only" required holding down a mouse button, then you could honestly try a little tab of sellotape on the side of the mouse button, or if you wanted it to not get dirty, maybe wrap an elastic band around the button if you wanted to save your fingers the pain.
Also, there are likely certain brands of mice with these features built in - I know many allow varying levels of key macros to be saved for example but you would need to research how far that customisation goes to figure if it will be worth you buying such a mouse for that purpose.
I tried different approaches and honestly the best solution I found for AFK farming without any software or macro setup is to just -
Bind mouse1 to spacebar and tape it down. Was honestly genius when I read it, and it's been helping me all day and night.
That is actually a more elegant and simple solution since it combines the benefits of sellotape and yet still keeps the mouse itself free for what ever.
A wise choice, OP.
Thank you, won't take credit from it tho. Some youtuber came up with the idea lol (cant remember their name)
But yea, it is so clever lmao. Saves me alot of trouble and spares me from downloading a software or binding macros
Autohotkey also works. Something like f1::Click Down Right ;Press
Just press f1 and you're good to go.
I was never actually sure what "turbo mode" did but now looking back I assume it may have had use in shoot em ups to save you keep pressing the fire button so furiously?
Maybe.
But then some later games had options or even a defaulting to a fast auto fire just simply by holding the button down, so ya is that what they were for back then?
