It comes down to the individual game more than genre, for me, because some titles accomplish the task better than others. It's a question of how much control I have over the playthrough, and how significantly do the options affect gameplay.
Any game that isn't a linear "story oriented" game has replayability. I used to love first person shooters, but they have zero replayability. You shell out obscene amounts of money for a game you beat in 8 hours and a multiplayer that will be dead in six months. And then never play it again. Pepole wonder why the single-player game is dying when Wolfenstein The New Colossus is half cut scene.
