You have to remember that many of them have been brainwashed by identity politics.
What would be wrong with a game that promoted the family values of loyalty, commitment and duty? I support equal rights but I don't support positive discrimination and for that, they will vilify me.
It is a perfectly valid perspective with regards to popular media and gaming but some people will attempt to come along and say that it is wrong or that we are radicalized but those same people censoring valid debate and branding people are part of the division of society.
I hope I didn't just step into a online Nun Convention who want Nun of it? Sexy men/women who cares and didn't the 6O's have a sexual revolution or something?
Most of the The last of US 2 trailers I've seen...and I haven't see all of them...she's using a bow or a knife or a gun. A female can't use a gun as well as a man?
As a woman who plays video games, I appreciate being able to play female characters. I enjoy it more than if I have to play a male. I don't think most of games where you can play a female has anything to do with SJWs...it's just a way to appeal to more women gamers.
That's great and I am glad for you.
As I said, The Last of Us 2 trailer was just an example. It is good that you can identify female characters as you are a female and I'm glad that the developers account for that.
Why are the looters strictly men? Would women not resort to the same behaviour if there was an apocalypse? I admit that I should have been more explanatory with my initial post with regards to the comment on The Last of Us 2.
What I am addressing is the types of positive discrimination we see with certain games..for example..
You had Wolfenstein II with a female supporting protagonist ridiculing men or Mass Effect Andromeda where the main character looked like a model while the women was not a model. See, you can be supportive of female characters or even characters that are different while not being for or against another gender.
The issue is it creates an us vs them mentality and that kind of thought creates a scenario where developers feel they must meet a certain criteria to appease certain people but by doing so, they are creating positive discrimination against other types of people.
I wll see that what with a what and raise you one what?
On this note, I find it funny how in "The Division" the only female NPCs fighting you aside from some black boss woman are snipers. In this regard I wonder why Ellie in TLoU never uses anything but the lighter weapons either. In TLoU1 you could say because she is still a girl there, but in TLoU2 she should have grown a bit. But then the same developers have also made Uncharted, where you can play (in multiplayer, and in some story episodes) the female main characters using any gun.
Games could be more neutral as an earlier post mentioned with Fallout: New Vegas, that was an excellent remark.
Developers should let us come to our own conclusion on characters and how we paint them rather than painting this as good or bad and black or white, the issue is when they generalize for a political agenda rather than adding dimension to characters.
For example, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The rich people are painted as weapon smugglers and slavers because there can't be a single one of them with a humanitarian bone in their body since they are rich and representative of capitalism.
I prefer playing as female characters, mostly due to better voice acting. Which is a big thanks to Jennifer Hale in Mass Effect.
I don't think there has been a game afterwards where I choose the male protagonist.
If possible, I also usually play as non-human. Loved my Ellana in Dragon Age Inquisition.
