Yep.
Doesn't surprise me. I used Avast for years, but it started going too far with popup ads and asking to install literal spyware (Chrome)

Malwarebytes and Windows Defender are good enough on their own. Though if you're going to buy commercial security software, Kaspersky has been top-rated for decades, and you get the added bonus of pissing off the Feds by using it.

Yea eusing is a great reg cleaner and free. Never used bleachbit i use file shredder from http://www.fileshredder.org/ . It's a great little file shredder that has up to the guttman standard of 35 passes. Even wipes free disk space. Just don't use wipe free space on an SSD.

I didn't know people still bothered cleaning their registry.

There is no benefit from doing so on modern operating systems.
Yea sometimes the uninstaller for a program don't play nice and don't clean up fully after themselves.
Not surprising at all. Steam is also prolly doing it right now while yall not paying attention :steammocking:

True. I just leave those obsolete registry entries. I reinstall Windows once a year, anyway.
Yea they usually don't cause problems but sometimes they do. Rarely but it happens.
Orphaned registry bits is one of the main challenges to getting Final Fantasy 7 Remako running smoothly. The converter script will stall if there's any compatibility settings in use, and you have to set the run in 640x480 compatibility mode for the .exe for 7th Heaven to be able to launch it.

Bleachbit isn't a file shredder, but don't tell the pigs in congress and the White House that.
