Take lil peep for example.

Its usually just stuff that was planned for release.
You've heard often that the music industry is run by the Illuminati and Satan, right?

Well, death is no obstacle in that case. The industry can still ring up their hotline bling.
Quality popular artists, such as Michael Jackson and Nirvana, fake their own death around mass drama. This is a way to retire and still remain popular/remembered, without the pressure and demand of their fanbase to continue... yet they can do so as desired by merely claiming it was 'found' previously written songs by them.

Other's such as XXX (who are not popular or even known), go on a live stream, claiming 5 times that they will die and hope to be known by millions upon their own death. Then get little kids and youtubers to make themselves go viral. Then have new albums and collaborations leak magically after death.

Disclaimer: There's actually facts behind both examples, but take it with a grain of salt. I mean, this is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events, locales, and incidents are either the products of the author's imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. This person was not threatened in anyway at gunpoint and made to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

They sometimes have lots of vocal recordings that were never put in songs, or vocal tracks that were used along with bad music that never made it to release. So when the family members want to make a little more cash from a legacy they pay some producer to try and make something decent out of it all.
