That's why he beat a whole Jedi temple trained by Luke.

Kylo’s force powers seem impressive but I believe Vader’s use of the force is way stronger. Pain will just anger Vader and impower him.
Vader learned most of his abilities from his previous self before the Emperor twisted his mind over Padme.
One simply doesn't forget those things and before he was Vader, Anakin was more powerful in force affinity and skill than Obi-wan, but Obi-wan simply had the emotional control and experience to beat Anaken because he had the "high ground", where as an emotionally unstable Anakin was not thinking clearly and attacked without any regard for the risks. Even a darkside user not focused can easily fail.
When Anakin became Vader, his hate strengthened his connect to the dark side and he became more sure of himself, more confident in his actions. Luke didn't stand much of a chance and lost his hand as well for good measure.
You see it a few times, Vader reaches into Luke's mind to distract him and it works, Vader manages to defeat Luke. It was only by some miracle that Luke was able to reach into that metal suit and grab his father out of the darkness at the last moment when Luke was being tortured that Vader was defeated for good. for both of them the lightsaber wasn't the most important aspect, the psychological battle was more important between father and son.
Now look at Kylo, he is unstable, has always been unstable. He killed his father, betrayed his master, Luke. Then he attempted to kill his mother as well. He is well and truly in the dark, but he isn't sure of anything, it is like he has been tortured and those scars are still fresh and on the surface and he is just writhing in agony. He is undisciplined, unfocused.
If Kylo had encountered Vader, Vader would of had him killed pretty quickly.
You forget that Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren fought the Jedi and razed the Jedi Temple before he left.
Knights of Ren victory
Ben Solo and the Knights of Ren[5] destroy the new generation of Jedi being trained by Luke Skywalker
