Why do people derail threads?
It has happened to me a few times, why do people do it?

Because chaos. Anytime someone mentions one thing about politics or religion it all spirals down to a possible flame war.

Some people get carried away in their own mini-conversation. Others fail to remember to use the report function and instead try to bloat the thread. While certain users enjoy seeing threads burn.

Kinda reminds me about the joker's speech about chaos.

Which is funny when those same people complain later on in the week about it.

Yeah I saw it it was a good answer, even though it was a really subtle bait thread you actually gave a constructive and useful answer.

i was trying rly hard not to bait, i dont respond to things like that usually unless it really bothers me. what was speculation can be disregarded from the real answer entirely

I was just in a thread that was derailed and eventually locked. I think the main reason for derailment was finding facts they disliked. So instead of focusing on facts they dislike, they made the post about something else until they lashed out in a flame post that locked the thread. Conversations are usually fluid and it can be diffuclt staying on just one topic.

From what I saw it was from a certain someone who came along in the thread and derailed things. But I could have been seeing things.

Well it's locked now, which makes it a great bit of evidence.

How many times did you see me asking them to address the topics I brought up, which pertained to the topic, rather then make this about something that derails the thread?
