'doggo'speak
this post is inspired by r/doggohate
does anyone else dislike this doggospeak phenomenon? instead of just saying dog and puppy it's now 'doggo' and 'pupper' and there are many other made up words. i actually think 'doggo' and 'pupper' are just a bit annoying but the real cringe comes in when poeple start using the other words like 'henlo' and 'hooman' and they take these dog/cat videos and add extra chromosomes to most of the words in this style

Adding this to the list of trivial things I didn't expect people to actually get upset over.

language evolves, there's always a resistance to it.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that and I am crazy.

It comes from all this " ShibeNation" youtube channel where they neglect proper grammar to sound cute, such as " he protecc but cen also attacc " something along that line.

Completely degenerated if you ask me, especially when adult human being follow this kind of talk. What a joke.

It does not really harm anyone except the kids, kids listen to that, learn from it and think it is normal speech. Not trying to sound like some uptight English teacher here, but this is facts.

I mean what normal sane mind would say " henloo "??? Is being a spaz cute now?

if they speak doggo over there, not my problem.

if they speak doggo over here, it is the moderator's problem.

I think you misunderstand the OP a bit. He is not here to restrict anyone from doing it, he just finds it as annoying as me and ridiculous and wants to talk about it, which the OFF TOPIC forum was made for, at least some decent discussion compared to all the other garbage on here where people are asking what they should do at what age and with their life, ridiculous.

Those threads are a wee bit more interesting than whining about bastardising words. There's an endless variation of names for cats and dogs because they're endlessly adorable and deserve them all.
Doggo is used because people using "Dog" as an insult too much :(

This is not about just names, this is about changing an entire grammar and sentencing. Are you sure you know wht he is referring to ?

Yes, i do. You don't need to worry about it. Nobody is getting hurt. Grammar Gestapo notwithstanding.
Doggo is a cute way of saying dog, i wouldn't say "pupper" though.

It isn't especially annoying.

Pupper sounds close to pooper, which would fit a dog actually ;P

You mean like saying "kittie" instead of 'kitten' or even 'cat' ? Just some affectionate terms?
Certainly doesn't harm me any.

The essence of language is to facilitate verbal communication. If someone refers to a canine as "doggo" or an immature canine as "pupper" for example, I'm still fairly certain that I will be fully able to understand their meaning especially given context. Therefore, I don't think there's an issue to be had with it.
Particularly if, according to the OP at least, this seems as though it's popular and common enough within their network to warrant making a post on here about it, such popular usage of words, if consistent and ubiquitous enough, can then be added to the dictionary.
