There are several ways to make soy milk, and I've generally liked the kind I can pick up in shops in Chinatown or such, whereas the western brands like Silk don't seem to be as tasty. Not sure why; maybe it's related to fond childhood memories of visiting Chinatown and buying soy milk. I haven't done a blind taste test to be sure either, since I have yet to go back to that same Chinatown and buy soy milk from that same vendor.
Also my lactose-intolerant relative always prefers unsweetened soymilk. Maybe that's another thing.
Soy products seem to get flamed by people who want to make a stupid agenda/meme out of how the world oh-so-hates masulinity and that's somehow related to soy because soy products are often used as vegetarian/vegan substitutes and being vegetarian/vegan means not eating meat and eating meat is manly and hardcore and tough and shows that someone clearly wrestled a bear and ripped its head off and crapped down its neck to show it who's the real dominant alpha male, and didn't just pick up a chicken nugget from McDonald's. (Vegetarian kung fu monks don't count for some reason; only Bad Imitation Saxton Hales do.)
I've seen plenty of vegan propaganda. I've also seen alot of vegans "exposed" secretly eating meat, or uploading confessions about giving up on veganism.
It is a thoroughly unhealthy diet. No different than someone who chooses to only eat fungus or some other exclusive food type for the rest of their lives. The fact that so many vegans give up or secretly cheat is enough evidence that it doesn't work. I've tried veganism myself and found it EXTREMELY high in carbs. I bet many long-term vegans are diabetic with poor dental health. Eating a potato salad is almost as bad as drinking a can of sugary soda.

My only dislike with tofu is when it pretends to be mock meat, etc as it's just tofu pumped with additives.
