Your opinion on tofu?

I see a lot of hatred for tofu on the internet and I honestly wonder why.

In my experience, tofu is amazing. When you fry it, it can be a very nice addition to any meal. Hell, fried tofu on its own is also pretty amazing.

Actually, make that soy products in general. Soya bean milk is a great drink, better than almond milk by far. It's not as good as regular milk, but I'd happily drink it if it was served to me.

And this is not even bringing up tempe....

I'm of the opinion that by itself, it's not very good. With something else to eat however, it isn't horrible.

It can be good. The only issue with soy foods is the estrogenic effect they can have. I don't drink soy milk for that reason.

It's meant to be used in cooking mainly.

Not a fan. Don't really care if it's in the food I eat, I simply would never seek it out.

Part of what puts me off tofu, are the people who desperately try to convince me that it's great.

I really don't have an opinion on that. German "cuisine" doesn't use tofu, so I don't know much about it. I keep seeing it in cooking recipes on Japanese games, so I'm pretty sure they are proficient in using it. However, Japanese cuisine around here is primarily focused on sushi...

I'm a carnivore but I love tofu! Get fried Chinese tofu drenched in thick gravy and serve it with seafood and vegetables. It's definitely one of my favourite dishes!!!

Best tofu dish I've had is in Hong Kong on the fishermen's islands where they catch fresh fish and serve them right then and there.
