It's meant to be used in cooking mainly.
Part of what puts me off tofu, are the people who desperately try to convince me that it's great.
I really don't have an opinion on that. German "cuisine" doesn't use tofu, so I don't know much about it. I keep seeing it in cooking recipes on Japanese games, so I'm pretty sure they are proficient in using it. However, Japanese cuisine around here is primarily focused on sushi...
(Kidding. I do know how to cook it. If your restaurant sells it, you'd better.)
Best tofu dish I've had is in Hong Kong on the fishermen's islands where they catch fresh fish and serve them right then and there.
