There are many gamer girls on Steam but there are also dating websites and communities that may be better for the thread creator.
I do know a couple of couples who are married where she isn't a gamer, and it works out good for them. Although it's nice to have that shared interest. My husband is more of an Xbox player so we do have two tvs in the living room side by side where we can play together. Works for us.
Or just gotta be in the right place at the right time.
Maybe get a job at eb games/game stop? Or maybe go to those gaming cafes and you can meet people there.
I one time met a chick on an online game (tibia) who happened to live in my same city so we became friends. Eventually we hooked up and banged a few times.
That's probably one of the few times in history people got on a video game format and hooked up. I never would have believed it could happen, until it did.
If I were the op though, I wouldn't be holding my breath for something like that to happen, especially on the steam forums. If that kind of thing happens, it's extremely rare.
You're probably more likely to have a kidney stolen in a situation like that.

I mean, I found a "gf" playing Killing Floor years ago. It was mostly by a mixture of dumb luck and minimal standards (for both of us). To be fair, though, some people get struck by lightning or win the powerball, but how many of those people do you know?
OP,
Trying to play the long game in online communities CAN* lead to a relationship.
* it's just very unlikely when you factor in the people she has met in real life, the friends she's already made in games / in that community and if she even is a girl in the first place, much less if she's interested in having a relationship with you as opposed to any of the thousand other guys who are trying to be nice to her in the attempt to do the exact same thing you're trying to do.
The biggest, most important question you can ask yourself when attempting to start a relationship is "what can I bring to the table as a friend and as a potential lover?"
It'll find you
