Your opinion on vegan and vegetarian diets?
Over the years, there has been many reasons brought up as to why one should take up a vegan or a vegetarian diet, and many have different reasons as to why they chose to do so. What do you personally think about vegetarian diets as well as vegan diets and their impact on both themselves and the world? Since they are quite different, I'd find it more reasonable to present seperate opinions on both.

If you are a vegan or a vegetarian, how did you come to decide on becoming one, and what changes has it brought to your life? How long have you followed this diet, and how is it going for you?

Feel free to discuss that on this thread.

I did make the switch between eating mostly meat to mostly vegetables last year.
Used to be I would have chicken for dinner three times a week, and deli meat sandwiches pretty much every day for lunch, but now meat is for occasional events for me.

The reason was mainly because that was just an unhealthy diet, and I was still under the mindset that veggies were disgusting. As it turns out though, it tends to be how veggies are usually prepared that made them disgusting to me - steamed, unseasoned, and served plain with nothing else.

When I took the time to search up an actual vegetarian recipe and try it out myself, that's when it hit me; "This is actually really good".

That was the turning point for me, realizing how much good food I've been missing out on.

It's okay. I believe they have better healthy teeth because they don't eat meat. I can confirm that.

How does that work? Chewing is good for dental hygiene so presumably you're talking about some component of meat that is bad for the teeth? Also, doesn't meat contain arginine? That's one of the naturally occurring amino acids in our saliva that protects our teeth.

Not disputing what you're saying. Just curious of the reasoning behind it.
Most people that like to eat meat easier to get teeth problem or faster broken teeth even you like to brush your teeth. I mean when you aging.

(forgetting that vitamins and protein pills don't grow on trees
You mean like you are forgetting that beans and rice can be farmed?

Uh yeah, you can't survive on rice. There are millions of children who've gone blind because all they eat in third world countries is rice because it lacks vitamin a. That's why golden rice was invented through GMO, which places vitamin a into rice and can be grown anywhere and was given away for free by the guys who genetically modified it. But typically vegans hate GMO so that's off the table.

And you need lots of fertile land to grow enough to support communities on beans and rice. Likewise cows can grow up in ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mountain terrain eating shrubs on land that can't be farmed, and one cow supplies a lot of food.

Eh whatever floats your boat, leaves more meat for the rest of us.

And in today's day and age, with vitamins and supplements, it's entirely possible and healthy to go on vegan diets or be vegan.

I just don't like when some vegans sit on their high horse and criticize everyone else. Some people simply can't afford to be vegan ( you use lots of resources to extract specific vitamins into tablets, so it's expensive to go full vegan and burns lots of resources doing so), like in third world countries you'd kill millions if they went vegan because they don't have those other needed vitamins rich people can buy in western civilization.

Or if they make up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, like claim vegans would best survive post apocalyptic environment (forgetting that vitamins and protein pills don't grow on trees), or last longer in bed (Peta has been making this claim for over a decade with no evidence to back it, just trying to appeal to sex to sell).

But the way we digest stuff, I can see going vegan and using protein and vitamin pills can be healthier. But I love meat, I love the taste of it and I love eating so it's my choice to not go vegan.

I am vegan and i became this way for helath benefits as well as for the environment.

It is true what PETA says as it is backed up by science done by researchers.

I don't know were to start but ive been vegan for like 6 months now an it has been going great.

It is true that you last longer in the bed.

Clearer skin etc.

See the documentary Forks over knives.

and read the book - THe China study

very long reasons on why veganism is better. ju st playin gatm and this is my short reply.

Beans and rice are a complete protein. :/ My point was not that one would attempt to be sustained by such but that it would be a source of protein when others are lacking.
I don't care about what people eat so long as they don't care about what I eat.

The more you post stuff like this, the more it looks like you're deliberately talking out of your butt in order to flame and get the thread shut down.

Vegetarians and vegans are still capable of obtaining cancer.

Bet common knowledge doesn’t want you to know that though.

Not through cow's milk, which seems to have been his point.

That should have been obvious, but your brain apparently doesn't want you to know that though.
