all that fancy Starbucks and coffee house stuff is unnecessary all I need is a cup of black coffee stronger is better and some flavored creamer take any cup to 7-11 or Circle K and it can be filled for 99 cents.
Ah the unenlightened masses... drip is for drips. espresso rules.
uh yeah if your grinding fresh coffee beans than thats better than any pre packaged coffee LOL i hear it has quite a jolt as well to grind fresh coffee beans

I grind my beans in an electric grinder each morning, and then brew it up in a Bodum (French Press as the hipsters would say). There's a sweet spot for the right grind: a coarse grind makes it easier to work the plunger, a fine grind makes for stronger coffee. The finer the grind, the more sludge winds up in your cup.

I'd say that was the finest coffee I've ever had but that isn't true. Some Lebanese folks gave me something they called "Turkish coffee" that was basically an espresso cup filled with wet coffee grounds...OMG!

The Bodum is the best way to get my North American style coffee fix.
Even Kevin oleary, the rich ♥♥♥♥♥♥ from sharks tank said he doesn't buy coffee at the cafes (Starbucks, Tim Hortons, etc) because it's a rip off, it costs them 17 cents to make and they sell for 2 to 5 dollars. A guy who can afford it even says he'd rather make it at home and save the money
lmfao 'starbucks lingo' as if reading the menu is the hardest thing in the world

I don't think it has anything to do with difficulty reading the menu, but rather it's the excessive pretention of being expected to learn new vocabulary just to appease a corporation that is ripping you off (and putting other coffee shops out of business while they do it).

Everything you need to know about how to order a coffee at Starbucks is listed on the menu, in plain english. You don't need to 'learn' anything. All you have to do is read.

If that's your stance then you're not stepping into a Starbucks in the first place, so it's still a non-issue. I don't buy coffee at Starbucks at all. I buy roasted whole beans from a local coffee shop, grind it myself, and brew it using a french press. I still think this thread is ridiculous.

Not in Canada, it's not. Their "lingo" is specifically not English, and that is the point.

You got that right. Thing is, there was a time when I did give them a try. That's how I learned the reasons I choose not to go there anymore.

...french press...

This always makes me laugh. Back in the early 90's a Dutchman introduced me to the Bodum. For decades, it was always referred to as "Bodum", the company that made the product...the only product available.

In recent years, some other "French presses" showed up on the market and hipsters decided it wasn't cool to say "Bodum" anymore. The thing is, not one of them can ever name a single company other than Bodum, when asked about it. So, the only reason to be hyper-specific about the terminology, is to appease the knock-off companies who jumped onto the bandwagon very late in the game?

I still say "Bodum" just to spite those people...lol
The only Starbucks I've ever had are the iced coffees they hook you with near the register at Lowe's. I admit to having a weakness for those but other than that it's Folgers and often instant because I drink about ten cups of coffee a day. That I still have good teeth is a miracle. If we stop for coffee on the road somewhere it's never a place like Starbucks. It's usually Dunkin Donuts. They have excellent coffee. So does 7-11 when they don't let it sit on the burner all day. I actually met my wife in a 7-11 while griping about their burned coffee.

But I have to say, we got ourselves a Keurig machine for Christmas and that thing is fan-freakin'-tastic! You can buy reusable cups for it and use your own coffee, too, so that's nice. And thank God because we also bought a box of pre-filled Donut Shop cups for about $15 and blew through all of it in less than two days.
I can easly buy coffe from starbucks anytime, but im not stupid like most people, if you not spend money on stupid things its deosnt mean you are broke, i buy grinded coffe from local market, mostly 500g packs, and make myself, how i want, i dont giv a shi about those milks or creams,i drink just black one with one sugar,i wont alow put that things in my coffe, best coffe is that you made by yourself, how you want, i drink alot to,sometimes 5 black full cups a day

Well, caffeine is a drug. It's not that different from when I used to shell out fifty bucks for a carton of cigarettes every two months.

Fifty bucks for a carton...every two months?

No, I'm not crying...something got into my eye. Cartons are already double that price nowadays, and I go through two of them every couple of weeks or so.

Speaking of which, you wouldn't happen to have a light, would you?
The same people who go to Starbucks everyday but say that smoking is expensive. Oh the irony.

I've been wanting to try that. I actually bought a mill years ago that was able to do a grind appropriate for a Turkish coffee but never got around to making one.

Hmm, I'm only aware of one other person who mentioned the cost of cigarettes, besides myself and neither of us said anything about going to Starbucks everyday. In fact, I have been quite clear about that very fact.

I'd make a comment about the irony of someone in an internet forum who can't be bothered to read, but I'll leave a bit of room for the possibility that you are talking about someone else, who left a comment that I must have missed?

Please do and let us know how that turns out. I had no idea it was a function of the grinding. I thought maybe it was some sort of magical beans that I'd never had before...lol
