What if you stalked your online friend and his parents to make sure he isn't dead after he stops logging in for a long time?

Well it's highly subjective and definately depends on someones moral if it's just to check on one of your old homies i don't personally think theres anything wrong with it.

It's unethical. Nobody wants to be stalked. If they dont know you in real life, then that adds a creep factor of MEGA NOPE.

Uh, yeah, don’t do this. If you’re genuinely concerned about a friend and their parents are the obvious point of contact, then contact them, don’t “stalk” them.

A number of years ago I worked as a P.I. and stalked people regularly, and got paid for it.

People have a right to privacy. You can't just go around stalking people for whatever personal reasons.

1. Stalking is always illegal.
2. Stalking is mostly unethical, because if you had a code of honor, you wouldn't resort to dirty tricks.
3. Stalking can benefit the "victim", but only when the stalker has kind motives (genuine feelings) and is interested in the well-being of the person. Sometimes, the only way you can help somebody, is watch upon them from a distance. Still illegal, though...

Don't stalk, people. 9/10 you are so going to find out things that you won't like, the least bit...

If you have never been stalked yourself, it is very difficult to understand. Fact is: it makes you almost powerless. Because there's nothing you can do about it. It's almost as if the one who stalkes you took the right out of himself to do something just because you existed.

I've had the misfortune to be terrorized by a stalker and while I've tried - as I said: tried - to ignore the whole thing, it ♥♥♥♥♥ your head unconsciously. At some point even the wish arose that this person would simply erm ... vanish. Or something else happens to him. Just so I can have peace and quiet.

Police? Wow. As if the police could do anything. Of course I've been to the police, but if there's someone who's serious, he won't let a cute proximity ban dissuade him from not letting you know of his existence.

Meanwhile? I get maybe 2-3 times a year sporadic messages from my stalker among other accounts. I ignore them. A move does some miracles.
