PC gaming on 65" tv
How many of you , have the pc connected to the televison in the living room?
have you managed to solve the problem of playing the PC sitting on the couch?
It is possible to build a powerful pc , in a case big as a console? with powerfull i mean a pc with a i7/i9 processor and a nvidia rtx 2070/2080 , able to play content in 4K hdr at 60fps, without problems. on my sony xf9005/x900f , the game in 4k 60fps are amazing, but at lower fps the tv shows me some immage defects ,so i need the 60fps. Playing with the ps4 pro is terrible for example at 30fps.
However, some of you actualy play pc on his 4k tv? (sorry if my english isn't correct)

yes. here is an example using a fractal design node 202.

silverstone raven looks like it has good cooling.

some other small silverstone cases.

There are plenty of small cases capable of housing high end hardware, for me, I just built a dedicated htpc / couch rig instead of using my old systems and, I chose a nice looking atx case to sit next to the TV instead of sacrificing cooling, went with the lian li 011 dynamic as I feel its very clean and smart looking so shows off the hardware rather than hiding it.

Then I use a corsair k63 wireless keyboard in their lap board with an Asus rog spartha wireless mouse for an as good as sitting at a desktop experience as possible.
“Couch gaming” is for consoles. Don’t expect good results using a TV as a monitor. I did that, and bare in mind the TV I used was super high end and even that sucks compared to a monitor that was designed just to be used with a PC. You can’t beat a monitors input lag and G-SYNC....

I’ve been gaming at 4K now for 4 years, I’ll tell you, you’ll need G-SYNC at that resolution because you’ll mostly be around 50-60 FPS at ultra settings and without G-SYNC at those frames, it will look terrible. Also TV input lag is terrible. Gaming on TV is ok if you game with a controller like an Xbox controller, but playing FPS games with mouse feels ultra laggy with a TV... and moving cursor around desktop with TV is painfully bad.
There are 4K TV models that can run 120fps / 1080p (of course 4k is only 60fps)
When running higher fps mode input lag is only ~16ms.
It should give a enjoyable game sessions.

Samsung has 4K televisions with Freesync mode support.

FPS gaming with Steam Controller is super smooth and fast.
Using dual mouse input: Trackpad for fast camera 180 degree movements and gyro aim for precise mouse aiming.

Gap between monitors and televisions are minimal.
Just pick the right one.

I have a Node 202 but I would recommend Silverstone RVZ models because it is a little bit thicker so it allows more options, heights for the cpu cooling.

Perhaps the most challening part is cooling vs noise. Temps are not a problem.
Cable managment is even better, thanks to M.2 drives.
Silverstone also have a one Platinum class passive cooling sfx PSU so even less extra noise for the whole system.

The “gap” is not minimal between TV and monitor.

No TV can compete with any of my monitors... XB271HK, PG279Q, PG248Q.
Mid range to top end tv's let you turn off all the signal processing they normally do and thus effectively turn them into a monitor.

If I were to blind test you on a number of properly configured tv's and monitors, you'd be hard pressed to identify the "gap".
I can tell the difference between a TV and monitor has soon as I get to the desktop. The input lag of tv’s is just terrible. I get wrist ache within 10 minutes fighting with the mouse. TV’s also don’t have G-SYNC which at 4K, you need G-SYNC. I guess you’ve never used high end monitors like the ones I own to make that comment.

Not technically, there are some tv's, such as my lg that work well with minimal delays, and a 2080ti does a good job of keeping frames above 60 maxed out.
Monk - As good as tv’s have got in recent years, they’re still not at the level of high end monitors.

I wouldn’t like gaming at 4K without G-SYNC, even if I had a 2080 Ti. A 2080 Ti still dips below 60 FPS in a lot of games.
when i bought the tv , i needed to choose between a big tv , and a pc monitor for, gaming, watch 4k hdr movies , netflix , ecc ecc. I needed to choose mainly for the money. With my budget, i was able to buy or a good tv , or a bad tv + a bad monitor. Obviously i choosen the tv for its all around use. A 4k hdr g-sync monitor cost more than my 1800€ tv, and if now i need to buy a monitor for plaiing with the pc, i can't upgrade the pc. It is only a money problem.
But, i do not play shooters/fps online game , so 24ms of imput lag for me it is ok. 60fps for me are ok. I am one kind of person that likes good graphics, and when i come back home after a work day i like stay on the couch XD. I know, i am a bad master race pc player. For a long time I have been looking for a powerful system like a PC, and as comfortable as a console. But trust me, the mainly problem are $$$$$$$ (always , sorry if my english isn't correct)

As I said, properly set up. Often defined as a game mode, often by disabling all signal processing options, sometimes hidden deeper in the settings.

Agreed, but the difference isn't as bad as you make it out to be.
Right, so you’re only the one who knows how to set up a tv and everybody else hasn’t got a clue..... right lol

I “fine tuned” my 4K tv to the max and it still was terrible compared to my monitors.... next excuse?

The difference is as bad as I make it out to be. If there wasn’t much difference, I would be using a tv still ....

on my tv , i see the same problems that i see on the pc monitor. But a bigger screen shows you "better" the problems.
My "luck" is that i never saw a game on a g-sync monitor. But i can tel you.... if you can run the game at 60fps (rock solid) and help you with the v-sync you can have a nice experience even on the tv. (on my opinion, everione have personal preferences)
obviously on a monitor with vrr technology and, 1--5 ms of response time is better, but i need to make the best out of my situation (money)
Nvidia users are left out for enjoying VRR gaming on a big living room displays.

AMD gpu owners can buy and use televisions up to 80" with industrial standard VRR technology.
There is no "must" for only using G-SYNC. It is good for consumers to have an options.

Freesync can do the same job as good as g-sync.
And it is possible to buy right now 4K televisions with Freesync.

I am not comparing which VRR technique is better. I am pointing out that there is no Nvidias BFG displays on the market yet.
I use my desktop pc on my monitor and hard wired steam link connected to big tv. Works really good if I want to game on couch
