That and the actors in a lot of the older movies seemed like more realistic people. That or I just like how people looked more back then.
Also liked a lot of the lighting and effects in the older movies.
We were already well past the point of making great movies such as Citizen Kane, The Grapes of Wrath, Casablanca, or The Wizard of Oz by then.
my mother says the same thing about movies that arent black and white
3 Superman sequels
3 Indiana Jones movies
2 Jaws sequels
2 Back to the Future movies (I'd also consider the third one from '90 to be an '80s movie)
4 Star Trek sequels
The '80s were littered with franchise movies. Very original.
Edit...
The Lord of the Rings was fantastic because of CGI, but it stayed true to the Novels.
- labyrintho del fauno
- Shape of Water
- The Arrival
- The Judge
- Logan
- Birdman
- Moon
- Kubo and the two strings
- The Imitation Game
- The Theory of Everything
- The Martian
and many more make me quite content with 'todays movies'
OP, have you seen Kingsman? I thought it was really good and I think if you're looking for something with a bit of a classic feel it may just hit the spot, no promises though.
